About the Owners
Owners Kathy Heyer (of the Northeast US) and Chantell Read (of South Africa) have both been dedicated healthcare professionals for over 30 years, with both of their careers largely consisting of assisting seniors with the aging process through home health and home care. After they each moved to Southwest Florida for work, they crossed paths and became fast friends.
Throughout their many years in the industry, they both recognized a lack of sufficient travel options available to those with special needs such as solo minors, individuals with disabilities or travel anxiety, and seniors. So, with their combined experience and Chantell’s added expertise in researching, planning, and booking accommodations for herself and others, they launched Golden Years in 2023 to make travel more accessible.
The Golden Years philosophy is that everyone should have the opportunity to travel and explore the world, regardless of age or ability.

Our Mission
Golden Years Travel Companions is a travel buddy service specializing in assisting those with medical conditions on domestic and international trips. As a Golden Years client, you are accompanied on your trip by a trained and experienced medical assistant. By pairing you with someone that aligns with your unique personality, it feels less like you’re being escorted by a nurse, and more like you’re experiencing your vacation with a friend.

Each of our travel companions are background checked, vetted, and insured so you can feel confident that they can assist you however needed. We carefully match each of our clients with the companion that best suits their personality and individual needs, ensuring a pleasant experience that truly feels like you’re spending time with a friend throughout the day.
